We’re working with a specialist school in Durham that supports pupils with complex needs and behaviour that challenges. They’re looking for a 1:1 Behavioural Support Assistant who can bring calm to busy moments, consistency to uncertain days, and compassion to every interaction.

This role is about building trust first. Progress comes after.

What your day will involve:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 behavioural support to a pupil with complex needs

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Using clear routines, boundaries, and reassurance to help a pupil feel safe

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Helping a pupil stay engaged with learning in a way that works for them

This role could be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs, SEND, or SEMH

  • Stay calm under pressure and don’t take behaviour personally

  • Understand that behaviour is communication
