We’re working with a welcoming school in Gateshead that’s looking for a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs steady, consistent encouragement throughout the school day. The school has a supportive team and a clear focus on creating a safe, structured environment for children who need extra guidance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting one pupil throughout the day with behaviour, focus and emotional regulation

  • Building a strong, trusting relationship so the pupil feels safe and understood

  • Using consistent strategies recommended by the pastoral and SEN teams

  • Helping the pupil manage routines, transitions and challenging moments

  • Encouraging positive communication, confidence and engagement in lessons

  • Working alongside teachers to keep expectations clear and achievable

What the school is looking for

  • Someone calm, reliable and patient

  • A good communicator who builds rapport naturally

  • Confidence supporting children or young people who struggle with behaviour or emotional regulation

  • Experience in care, youth work, sports coaching, SEN or behaviour support is helpful but not essential

  • A team player who’s adaptable, steady and ready to learn
