Open minds, build confidence and bring languages to life
Are you a German teacher who loves helping students find their voice in another language? A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Bristol is seeking a full-time German Teacher to join a supportive Modern Foreign Languages department where communication, culture and confidence are key.
This is a school that values languages as a way of broadening horizons, building empathy and preparing students to engage with the wider world.
• A German Curriculum That Builds Real Communication
The German curriculum is carefully sequenced to develop strong foundations in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Lessons focus on purposeful communication, cultural understanding and helping students use language with confidence, not just learn vocabulary by heart.
• An Inclusive, Aspirational School Community
Students come from a wide range of backgrounds and are encouraged to believe they can succeed in languages. The school promotes a positive culture where effort is recognised, mistakes are part of learning and confidence grows over time.
• A Supportive and Collaborative MFL Team
You’ll work within a department that plans together, shares ideas and supports one another. High-quality professional development and coaching are built in, helping teachers refine their practice and develop subject expertise.
• Well-Resourced Learning Spaces
Classrooms are equipped to support interactive teaching, spoken language practice and engaging use of resources that bring German language and culture to life.
• Languages Beyond the Classroom
The school values enrichment, cultural learning and real-world links, helping students understand how languages connect to travel, careers and global opportunities.
• Teaching German across relevant key stages
• Delivering engaging lessons that develop confidence and communication skills
• Supporting students to make strong progress through meaningful feedback
• Contributing positively to the MFL department and wider school community
• A passionate German teacher with high expectations for all learners
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred
• A reflective, team-focused approach to teaching
• Commitment to inclusion, cultural awareness and student progress
Salary: Paid to scale
