The role

We are working with a well-established 11–18 secondary school in Northumberland to recruit an Attendance & Engagement Officer to support pupils who face barriers to regular school attendance. This role focuses on building relationships, improving attendance, and supporting pupils to re-engage with learning.

The school has strong pastoral and safeguarding systems in place and a proactive, child-centred approach to inclusion and wellbeing.

£100 – £120 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support pupil attendance and punctuality

  • Work 1:1 with pupils to identify barriers to attendance

  • Support reintegration into school following absence

  • Liaise with pastoral teams, families, and external agencies

  • Track engagement and contribute to intervention planning

The ideal candidate

  • Experience in education, pastoral care, youth work, or social care

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Confident working with vulnerable pupils and families

  • Organised, proactive, and resilient

  • Open to short-term or long-term placements

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
