Are you an English graduate with QTS ready to build your ECT year in a school that prioritises literacy and high expectations?

This larger Gateshead primary school, with around 430 pupils, has strong KS2 outcomes and a clear focus on reading and writing development. The school has recently invested in additional curriculum resources and staff training, particularly within upper KS2.

They are seeking an ECT to teach a Year 6 class alongside an experienced parallel teacher. Planning responsibilities are shared, and mentoring is delivered by the Assistant Head for KS2.

The Role:

  • Teaching Year 6

  • Delivering structured literacy and SPaG lessons

  • Supporting pupils in preparation for end-of-year assessments

  • Building strong classroom management

  • Contributing to KS2 moderation meetings
