Are you a Sociology or Psychology graduate with QTS looking to complete your ECT year in a school that truly understands pupil wellbeing and community engagement?
We are supporting a welcoming one-and-a-half form entry primary school in Gateshead with approximately 290 pupils. The school serves a close-knit local community and has a strong pastoral structure in place. The Headteacher is experienced in mentoring Early Career Teachers and believes strongly in reducing unnecessary workload during induction.
They are seeking an ECT to take responsibility for a Year 3 class. The year group works collaboratively, with shared planning and regular moderation meetings to build confidence and consistency.
Full teaching responsibility for a Year 3 class
Delivering structured lessons across core and foundation subjects
Building strong routines and behaviour expectations
Monitoring pupil progress with guidance from phase leader
Communicating effectively with parents
Weekly ECT mentor meetings
Clear behaviour and rewards system
TA support for targeted pupils
Shared planning across the year group
Accessible senior leadership team
QTS
ECT status
Sociology, Psychology, or related degree welcomed
Strong communication skills
Reduced additional responsibilities in Year 1 of ECT
