We are working with a large, inclusive secondary school in Northumberland to appoint a Pastoral Support Mentor. This role focuses on supporting pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development across KS3–KS5.
You will work closely with Heads of Year, SEN staff and senior leaders to support pupils who require additional guidance, helping them overcome barriers to learning and re-engage positively with school life.

11–19 secondary school with sixth form provision
Strong pastoral structure and clear behaviour systems
Inclusive ethos with dedicated support teams
Focus on pupil wellbeing and personal development
Supportive leadership and collaborative staff culture
Provide 1:1 mentoring and targeted pastoral interventions
Support behaviour management and emotional regulation
Liaise with families and external agencies where required
Monitor attendance and engagement
Promote positive choices and resilience
Experience working with young people (education, youth work, mentoring or care)
Confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Calm, consistent and professional approach
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
PAYE only – no umbrella companies
