Primary SEN Support Learning Support Assistant

Want a role where you’re genuinely valued, not just “extra support”?

Working through Protocol Education means more than just finding a job. It means weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies, free CPD to grow your skills, and a consultant who actually listens to what you’re looking for. We work with welcoming schools across Romford who appreciate brilliant support staff and treat them as part of the team, not an afterthought.

If you’re calm in the chaos, patient when it counts, and passionate about helping children thrive, this could be your next move.

The role

We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant school in Romford. You’ll be right there in the classroom, making a real difference to pupils who need that extra bit of support to shine.

This isn’t a sit-on-the-sidelines kind of job. It’s hands-on, heart-first, and impactful every single day.

What you’ll be doing:

1:1 support for pupils with special educational needs, helping them access learning with confidence
Supporting individual education plans, working closely with the class teacher
Keeping pupils engaged, breaking down instructions so learning feels achievable
De-escalating tricky moments with calm, positive behaviour strategies
Building strong relationships with teachers, parents, and professionals
Creating a nurturing space where children feel safe, included, and understood

You’re not “just” an LSA. You’re the steady presence, the quiet encourager, the one who helps things click.

What we’re looking for:

✔ Right to work in the UK
✔ A valid DBS, or willingness to apply for one
✔ Experience supporting children with SEND
✔ An understanding of different learning styles and how to adapt
✔ Patience, empathy, and a genuinely caring approach

If you’ve worked with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs, we’d love to hear about it.

Why join Protocol Education?

Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella faff
FREE access to our CPD Academy, including SEND-focused training
A dedicated consultant who keeps things simple and finds roles that suit you
Flexible opportunities across primary schools in Romford
Referral scheme, earn rewards for recommending friends

Every placement supports a local school and helps a child feel more confident in their classroom. That’s the bigger picture.
