Workshop Courses

We bring in external trainers who are experts in their fields to run a range of workshops designed to help you develop your classroom skills and access new job opportunities.  Our internal trainers also run smaller scale sessions in our branches, with content based on the specific needs of local schools and candidates.  

 

Behaviour Management for Supply Teachers

This workshop looks at the psychology behind behaviour and provides various strategies for managing behaviour in both daily cover assignments and long-term placements. The course covers setting clear and achievable behavioural expectations, the assertive response style, and some practical tools to promote a positive learning environment.

This is a 2-hour training session, generally held in evenings or school holidays. Our trainer is a recently retired headteacher who has spent over 30 years teaching in both primary and secondary schools in the UK.

Understanding and Supporting Children with Challenging Behaviour

This training looks more closely at supporting students with challenging behaviour, providing you with a deeper understanding of the possible reasons for the behaviour(s), and increasing your confidence in supporting students with a range of available strategies.

This is a 2.5-hour training session, generally held in evenings or school holidays. Our trainer is an Educational Psychologist with 15 years of experience working with schools and local authorities.

Understanding and Supporting Children and Young People with Autism

This course explores the challenges children with autism face and how to help them succeed in a mainstream classroom. This course is aimed at any teachers or support workers that currently work with autistic students, or who may wish to develop skills in this area for future work.

The course is a full day and generally held in school holidays or at weekends. Our trainer initially trained as an ABA Tutor and currently works as a Lead Teacher for autism.

Introduction to SEND

We run regular open days for teachers looking to develop their careers in special needs settings or expand their knowledge about SEND. Guest speakers and our consultants talk about their experiences in SEND, as well as discussing a range of topics to provide you with an insight into teaching in a SEND environment.

These workshops are generally 2-3 hour sessions, held in evenings or school holidays.
