Funding NPQs: Not from your Levy

Worried about the cost?

For most state-funded schools in England, the Department for Education (DfE) covers the course fee through scholarship funding. You do not need to use your Apprenticeship Levy funds for these qualifications.

Visit the government website for more details on funding.

NPQ for SENCOs: Mandatory qualification

The NPQ for SENCOs is the new mandatory qualification for teachers taking on the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator role. It's all about building strong, strategic SEND provision.

From September 2024, SENCOs and aspiring SENCOs need to complete training within three years of appointment.

Schools and SENCOs must make sure they enrol on training that will meet this requirement.
