Teach and Travel

For some of us, it’s not all about teaching! Yes, you heard us correctly. We know that some of you are also looking to make the most of the travel opportunities to you. We know there is a world of opportunity waiting for us and we are surrounded by travel options and deals. It can be a little overwhelming working out what you want to do.

No need to stress or worry though. Some of the UKs leading travel companies, who regularly attend our travel evenings, have put together their advice and top tips for you. They are after all the travel experts.

Kate, who knows a thing or two about travel, presents Topdeck Travel’s Top Tip!

At Topdeck, we are the travel experts! From sailing in Croatia, hopping the Greek Islands or road tripping the USA, when it comes to the hottest destinations in Europe or across the globe for this summer, we’ve got you covered! So how do you make the most of your summer?

Summer is super busy in Europe, our top tip is…

Work out what you want to do, and go with it! Don’t hesitate, book now to avoid disappointment!

Even now in March, many of our trips are either sold out or selling fast, our opening weekend hostel Oktoberfest trip is sold out! (Say what?!) The last spaces for ANZAC 2014 are also going fast- if you didn’t enter the ballot for 2015, then you can forget it, so 2014 is your year!

Have some ideas of what you wish to do! Whether it is finishing a stein in Munich, participating in the largest food fight in La Tomatina or sky-diving over the Swiss Alps, set your own bucket lists and tick the lot off!
Have the trip of a lifetime with us!

Nic from Busabout, HAGGiS and Shamrocker has some top travel destinations for you, most of which are off other people’s radars!

Menorca – The incredible Balearic Island of Menorca is one of the coolest places I have ever visited. Often overshadowed by the reputation of Ibiza and Mallorca, Menorca doesn’t care, its proud to be different and brilliantly unique. Believe it or not in my opinion it’s got some of the best nightlife, food, beaches in the world whilst maintaining its chilled atmosphere and admirable culture.

brilliant countries with friendly people, cheap prices, stunning scenery, great nightlife

Haro – A small town in the La Rioja province of northern Spain where you can tour the vineyards drinking excellent Rioja before entering the crazy festival at the end of June The Battle Of The Wine which as the title suggests is one massive wine fight!

The Baltics – Lituania, Latvia, Estonia are brilliant countries with friendly people, cheap prices, stunning scenery, great nightlife and are neighbours to Eastern Europe, Scandinavia or Russia so the perfect destinations before or after travelling them!

Plitvice National Park –  Off most people’s radar and is one of the reasons the ones that do the rhapsody are on it. It is hard to get to on your own so perfect to promote to go to on a tour. It is just a magical wonderland and such a welcomed escape from the hussle and bussle of the big cities.

Cappadocia in Turkey – is a wonder of underground cities and above ground chimney like formations that are just spectacular.

**Radical Travel includes Busabout, HAGGIS Adventures and Shamrocker tours.

Daniel from h.o.f.n.a.r knows exactly what supply teachers need to do... stuff!

As a regular teacher we all know that travelling during school holidays can be ridiculously expensive and you only end up travelling with other teachers. Being a supply teacher can give you some flexibility over that - not only do you get the sweeter deals, but you get to meet a wider range of people.

Squeeze in the weekends away

Whatever role you are in - and particularly in London - you need to make a break for it when you can. Squeeze in the weekends away. It's amazing that two days immersed in a completely different culture or two days doing something completely different can re-charge your batteries and leave you more enthused for the classroom and ready to face even the most troublesome of children!

One of the best things about the U.K is the abundance of cheap flights to all over the place and book far enough in advance and you'll get them at a really good price. If you aren't fussy about where to go is a brilliant website for digging out dirt cheap adventures.

Of course our little company runs little days out and weekends away - from biking in the Kent forests to surfing in beautiful Cornwall. Just doing STUFF clears your mind and many of our trips mean you don't have to take any holidays and still get to escape doing something awesome to tell the kids about on
