Protocol Testimonial: From Perth to London

15/09/17

Ellen is a Grade 3 Teacher who moved from Perth to London to pursue her teaching career. She had some nice words to say about working with Protocol.

Teaching in the London had been a long time dream of mine since the beginning of my teaching career.

I was unaware that in the UK many teachers are hired through agencies, there came the difficult decision to picking which agency I felt was best to go through. Having heard about Protocol at a travel expo in Perth (when booking my European holiday) from a girl who had previously been with another agency and moved to Protocol as her experience with Protocol was much better.

Attending the information session held by Sam Swain I had a number of questions, I walked out with them answered. The information provided was incredibly helpful and the pamphlets given were also useful. Following the information session I contacted Sam to start the registration process. She was beyond helpful, walking me through each step and in constant contact with me via email or phone. When I encountered some technical problems when applying for my Visa online Sam assisted me through this frustrating process, reassuring me. Receiving the constant support through the registration process made me happy with my decision to choose Protocol.

I had a number of Skype and phone call interviews for positions, in preparation the staff at Protocol provided me with interviews questions to study, information about the schools and the areas in which they were situated. When it came down to getting the best pay rate I knew Protocol had my very best interest at heart, when I was offered an average rate Sam told me she felt I could do much better (she was right) advising me to not take the position.

Arriving in London I had my meeting at the Protocol office in Tottenham Court Road, I was talked through the pay process, all the other necessary information and heavily assisted in opening a bank account (I had heard horror stories of people waiting weeks to do this). I was also linked up with another teacher whom will be working at the same school as me, we have since become very close, assisting each other in finding a place to live and going into school planning and setting up our classroom's.

Overall I could not recommend Protocol more! The whole experience has been incredible, it can be difficult leaving your home, family and friends behind on one side of the world, with Protocol it was made easier. Sam was beyond amazing she went above and beyond to make sure I had everything organised, answering all my questions, sharing my stresses and worries (also the joys and excitement). I might add she was/is always very prompt in responding to emails or calls!
