Protocol Testimonial: Erin (New Zealand)

08/09/17

Erin is a registered nurse from New Zealand, but when she headed off on her OE, she went down the education path and was a popular classroom support worker in London. Find out her top tips for making the most out of your travels....

What made you decide to work in England?

I was really ready for a new challenge and a change of scene. My partner had set himself up in London working through Protocol Education as a Teacher and I was sold on the idea from there on in.

Why did you choose Protocol Education as your agency?

I knew people (my partner and others) who had recently moved to the UK and had connected with the agency prior to moving. They had had positive experiences and were able to find work as soon as they wanted to start work. It was seamless and easy with a lot of support.

How did you find the process of registering in New Zealand?

Very straight forward and systematic. I was always encouraged to ask questions if unsure at each step of the process.

Tell us 3 things you enjoy most about living in England?

I loved how there was something going on all the time. Events, shows, attractions. It was busy and buzzing. England has so much to offer outside of London. I ended up exploring a lot of England and loved how different each area was and how easy it was to get there. Transport makes seeing things so possible. You can be well out of the city within the hour. Also, getting to schools for work and social events was made possible by how connected every area was.

Any travel tips or advice for teachers planning on making the move?

Travel tips - plan in advance! Its so worth looking up dates well in advance of school holidays and bank weekends to make the most of cheap tickets and getting away when you can. Airports can be tricky to get to... its worth paying a little more for your tickets to get to a more accessible airport as you end up spending a lot on travel to the airports and its very time consuming.

Would you recommend Protocol Education to your friends and family?

Yes most definitely! It was such an easy transition between home and the UK because you had job security and a friendly team to work with. They go above and beyond to find a school that suits you and that you can get to from wherever you are staying. They work around you which is really great. I absolutely loved my school and it made such a difference having it as my supportive base while I was in London. Thanks Claire for your help getting things all organised for me. You have made it so straight forward and great!
