Protocol Testimonial: Alyce (Australia)

22/06/17

In September 2016 I was interviewed in Melbourne by Mr. Ashley Eastwood, on behalf of the Learning in Harmony Trust. This was my first interview through Protocol Education and they were extremely helpful, sending me interview tips, a template for my application, guidance for creating an introduction video and resources on the UK Curriculum. They also provided me with information about the Trust and the individual schools.

I had been working as a Primary teacher for 6 years and while preparing for my interview I was very impressed with the research-based teaching principles and approach of the Learning in Harmony Trust. This was further demonstrated during my interview with Ashley, with the insightful and in depth questions I was asked; exploring my own teaching approach as well as unpacking specific examples of how I meet the individual needs of my students. He was very friendly and genuinely interested in my teaching experiences and why I wished to work in the UK.

While the interviews were primarily for positions beginning in January and I was not travelling to the UK until July 2017, Ashley was, however, still very happy to discuss future opportunities with the Trust. Within days of my interview I was very fortunate to be offered a 12 month position at the Federation of Greenways School that would begin September 2017. Accepting this position gave me the unique experience of having the certainty of a job in the UK a full year in advance of actually going.

Ashley has been incredibly helpful and supportive in my preparation for moving to Southend and I have even been given the opportunity to visit the school this July before beginning fulltime in September. My experience with Sam Swain, Protocol Education and the Learning in Harmony Trust has been absolutely fantastic and I cannot praise them highly enough!
