Emily's Testimonial: I Can't Wait To See Where My Time In England Leads Me!

25/02/19

Emily was a student at the University of Western Ontario when she first considered making the move to teach in England with Protocol Education. Since then she has never looked back. Here's her story:

I first heard about Protocol through my University. I wasn’t ready to move to England until a year later. I couldn’t remember much from the university open house and began researching the different agencies.

Right off the bat, I narrowed down my search to only a few agencies. The main difference with Protocol was that they offered pay WEEKLY without an umbrella company. No other company offered this. They also offered me a £500 bonus if I signed their Guaranteed Work Agreement.

I also had an amazing consultant, Claire Scott. She helped me through the whole process. We spent hours on the phone together. She patiently answered all of my questions and offered any help she could.

I was worried about finding a house to live in that would suit all my needs. A lot of people move to England and find housing once they have entered the country. This was not something that I felt comfortable doing. I wanted to figure out the housing situation before flying over so I didn’t have as much pressure to figure things out when I arrived.

Claire suggested Arrive Homes, “a leading provider of shared accommodation for overseas teachers and professionals”. Arrive homes was a perfect choice because they understand what it’s like to move countries and they try to make the transition as smooth as possible. My bills are all-inclusive, just like the rest of their properties, and they allow you to leave at any time (two months notice is required).

I went with the particular house that I live in now because it has an amazing location with many transport options nearby. The property also has another female teacher, Makayla, who is from New Zealand. Claire was also her consultant. She put us in contact so that we both knew someone else in the same position. We are very close now and we have already travelled to Morocco together.

I’m half way through my first term and I’m loving every minute of it. I have got to know the reps from my area. They have got to know me over the last few weeks and have learned my preferences for different age groups and school locations. I already have a long term placement teaching PPA coverage and PE Monday to Wednesday. I love the school and really like that I get to work with different year groups each day.

I am excited for the rest of the term! I can’t wait to see where my time in England leads me. I am so grateful for Claire for helping me make the move and for Protocol for making my dream of living and working in London England a reality!
