Autism Awareness Week: Raising Money Through Art

02/04/19

The Key Stage Two and Three students at NAS’s Thames Valley School have collaborated artistically to create a vibrant installation which displays their favourite buildings in Reading, real or imagined. Their community consists of a Bongo Cat Sphinx, Banana Factory (taken over by King Kong), a Rolls-Royce seven star hotel, Tesco Extra, ASDA, KFC and a range of other imaginative, unique and creative artworks.

On display at the Oracle Shopping Centre for World Autism Awareness Week (1st April 2019 - 7th April 2019), the students developed the collaborative installation with the intention of raising money for their school and creating awareness surrounding their Autism.

Art teacher Bianca Brzezek says, ”For me this has really proven that students with Autism are not limited by their diagnosis. The learners’ passions and talents clearly shines through in this work. The final piece is beyond my expectations and that is all due to the creativity and willingness to learn of the young people.”

If you would like to view the display, this is located next to the information booth at the Oracle Shopping Centre until Sunday 7th April. The teachers and staff from Thames Valley School will be collecting donations from 12 - 3 on Saturday 6th April, so pop down to say hello!
