A Poem - ADHD

Sam is currently working with a child who has ADHD. He has written a poem from his student's persective. 

ADHD

I’m not trying to be bad I’ve got ADHD
My brain don’t work proply I wish you could see

I just can’t pay attention for very long
If there’s a noise I must see whats goin on
If there’s a plane out the window up in the sky
I need to just watch it and I dunno why

I'll hear any pin that drops on the floor
It don't really matter if I heard it before

If I woz a toddler you might understand
You'd be worried near main roads You would hold my hand
But cause I'm much bigger I look like a pain
But really I just got a messed up brain

When you talk at me sometimes I might nod my head
But I’m not really listenin get distracted instead

Most times you shout at me I'm not sure what I done
Wasn't tryin to be bad and weren't havin fun

So please try and be patient I don't mean to look bad
I only been Invited to one party my life is well sad

If I had a broken leg would you make me walk fast?
For me not tapping a pencil is equally hard.

Sam is a learning support assistant (LSA) and is passionate about helping SEN pupils. Out of work he loves cricket, pizza, Everton and comedy!
