This role is within a special day school for children aged 2-11 years. Our school specializes in educating pupils with severe and profound learning disabilities, many of the pupils have additional physical disabilities, communication difficulties and complex health needs.

The school upholds high standards and continually works towards improving their pupils' performances by maintaining an environment that is nurturing, empowering and supportive while at the same time setting challenges. As a Youth Support Worker, your main responsibility will be to ensure pupils reach their full potential in their academic, social, creative, personal, physical and moral development.

As part of the support team, your main is for all children to leave the school as confident, independent life-learners who can express themselves and their choices.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

• Managing pupil's physical needs.
• Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
• Helping the students with their life skills.

For this role, you will have:

• Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
• Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
• Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
• Happy to work one to one and small group work.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach
