Some people teach lessons. Some people build confidence, calm nerves and help children discover they can do things they never thought possible.

We’re working with a friendly and nurturing infant school looking for a caring and dedicated Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with young learners and understands that learning isn't only about numbers and phonics, it’s also about building confidence, celebrating progress and creating moments that stick.

You’ll become an important part of a supportive team, helping children feel happy, engaged and ready to learn every day.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting children across Year 2 with their learning and development
• Working alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences
• Leading small group interventions in reading, writing and maths
• Providing targeted 1:1 academic and emotional support where needed
• Supporting positive behaviour and celebrating achievements along the way
• Delivering phonics interventions where required
• Working closely with staff, families and external professionals to create consistency for children
• Helping create an inclusive environment where all children can thrive

We're looking for someone who:

• Loves working with children and helping them achieve their best
• Can engage, motivate and nurture young learners
• Has a positive, patient and adaptable approach
• Uses initiative and responds confidently to children's needs in the moment
• Builds strong relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
• Has high expectations and believes every child can succeed
• Can effectively support children with a range of additional needs

Experience working within Key Stage 1 would be a strong advantage. Experience or knowledge of the Year 2 curriculum and Read Write Inc phonics would also be beneficial.

What the school offers:

• A welcoming and supportive school community
• Friendly children who genuinely enjoy learning
• High-quality professional development and training opportunities
• Opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and share best practice
• A well-planned curriculum and engaging learning environment
• A positive school culture with wellbeing and nurture at its heart
• Pension scheme and staff benefits
