Year 1 Teacher | Gateshead Primary School

A friendly and community-focused primary school in Gateshead is seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join their team from September.

With around 340 pupils, the school combines high expectations with a nurturing approach. Staff work closely together to ensure every child feels supported academically, socially and emotionally. Behaviour across the school is consistently positive and pupils are eager to learn.

The school has recently invested in new phonics resources, reading spaces and outdoor learning areas, giving teachers access to excellent facilities to enhance classroom learning.

Working Pattern

• Full-time
• September 2026
• 8:30am-3:30pm
• Term-time only

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold QTS
• Deliver creative and engaging lessons
• Have strong behaviour management
• Be passionate about early literacy and pupil development
• Enjoy working collaboratively with support staff and parents

In return you'll receive weekly PAYE pay, free CPD, ongoing consultant support and the opportunity to secure a permanent contract.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
