The work is person centred and we aim to help each student live as self-sufficiently as possible.

As a teaching assistant your aim is to support students with their daily lives as well as treat them with respect and in dignified manner, whilst respecting their privacy. This specialist school provides an engaging and caring learning environment for visually/hearing impaired students from primary to post 16 students.

The school takes pride in creating an environment that ensures students are welcomed and feel safe and that staff treat them well. The main purpose of the role will be to provide children and their families with the support, care and services they need to live happy, healthy and fruitful lives.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year with a view to continue..

Responsibilities:
• Managing pupils interaction
• Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
• Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:
• Experience working in specialist schools
• Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
• Happy to work one to one and small group work.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.
