Protocol Education are proud to be working closely with an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 19. The setting deals with a wide range of needs across 3 sites in Wakefield and have exciting plans to expand. Their dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

As this setting is continuing to grow, we have an opportunity for the right candidate to join this dedicated and hard-working team. Your main responsibilities would be to provide support to their SEND pupils with learning difficulties, behavioural, social and physical disabilities. You may have supported learners in Music or similar related subject in an educational setting as a Teaching assistant or Learning mentor. You may have also spent many years in the music industry or as a musician then gone on to work supporting learning in a SEND school or alternative setting.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who are proactive and are adaptable enough to meet the complex needs and challenges faced by supporting children in this setting. We do look for previous experience supporting learning in a SEND environment, although the right attitude is just as important for you to be successful in this role.

To be successful in the role we would expect the following
•Some experience of working with young people who present with complex or challenging behaviours.
•To work independently as well as be guided by the Teacher in the classroom.
•Have experience of using IT effectively such as the basic Microsoft suite
•Strictly adhere to the codes of Practice / Legislation on Safeguarding and Child Protection

We are a REC accredited and audited company, this means we really take safeguarding seriously and are a leading fully compliant provider within the education sector. We have a large office network that stretches from the North East to the South West and most areas in-between.

Protocol Education adheres to the following from its Teachers & Support Workers;

• A DBS certificate with a live subscription to the update service or be willing to get one
• Two professional references within the last three years
• Someone who is committed to the safeguarding of young people
