Trainee Tutor Position.

Job title: Full Time Tutor

Location: East Grinstead

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Monday – Friday 8.45 -5pm with a 4.30pm finish on Friday.

We are seeking full-time tutors to join our team at Step by Step school, a SEND school in East Grinstead. As a tutor, you will be responsible for conducting individualised teaching sessions with pupils assigned to you on a daily basis. You will work towards 1:1 full-time teaching and key worker responsibilities, supervising indoor/outdoor playtime and lunch on a rota basis. You will also participate in staff meetings and training and provide personal care where required.

Responsibilities:

-          Conduct individualised teaching sessions with pupils assigned to you ona  daily basis.

-          Collect and record data on the programs delivered as instructed by the Class Leader

-          Work towards 1:1 full-time teaching and keyworker responsibilities

-          Supervise indoor/outdoor playtime and lunch on a rota basis.

-          Participate in staff meetings and training.

-          Provide personal care where required.

-          Work as part of a classroom team providing behaviourally-based instruction to children with autism and related communication disorders.

Requirements:

-          Experience in working with children with SEND

-          Ability to provide personal care where required.

-          Ability to supervise indoor/outdoor playtime and lunch on a rota basis.

-          Ability to work as part of a classroom team providing behaviourally based instruction to children with autism and related communication disorders.

-          Ability to engage throughout the probationary period outlined below ensuring that competencies and targets are met within the agreed time scale.

Probationary period:

Following induction training which includes Child Protection, Fire Safety and Health & safety training, new staff members will begin to undertake teaching duties in the classroom. The probationary period will provide support and supervision:

-          Throughout the probationary period, Trainee Tutors will be monitored and provided with regular and ongoing feedback regarding performance and progress.

-          Specific targets will be set according to areas that have been identified for development. Progress against these targets will be measured at regular intervals by Class Leaders/Lead Tutors.

-          During the first two weeks, Trainee Tutors will receive two or three overlaps with either their Class Leader or Lead Tutor in the class.

-          Over the next four weeks, Trainee Tutors will meet with their Class Leaders for a review of their progress.

-          Over the next tw months, trainee Tutors will work 1:1 with the pupils as per the class rota.

-          At the end of the fourth month, Trainee Tutors will have another meeting with he Class Leader.

-          At the end of Six Months, the trainee Tutor will have a formal appraisal with their Class Leader.
