Working Hours: Full Time Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30 and Friday 8:30 to 1.30

Protocol Education are currently working with an excellent Jewish Special Needs primary and secondary school in Barnet, who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant with Autism support experience to join their school as soon as possible.

You will be working in a class of students with Autism. Some of the children that you support have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. The Class teacher will oversee the entire class, however, there is expectation that you will take smaller groups of the class and lead them in some activities such as numeracy sessions, art sessions etc. You will help the class teacher with the planning of the class and activities to be set up for the week ahead.

To be eligible to apply for this position, it is essential that you have experience supporting students with Autism. In addition to this, PECS and/or Makaton will be useful in this post.
Ideal candidate will have the following:

- Autism support experience
- Makaton and PECS support
- Team Teach

You will need to be available to start ASAP , as well as being able to commit to working full school hours on a full time basis. . You must have a good command of numeracy and literacy, as this is especially important when supporting pupils with limited communication skills.
This post is for a long-term cover with view to a permanent position.
