A Newcastle based Secondary School is currently recruiting for a learning support assistant to work from September 2022 on a full time basis (term time only) until July 2023.

As part of your role as a learning support assistant you will be required to work with children, aged between 11-16 with Special Educational Needs. Some children may have SEMH (social, emotional and mental health), therefore the ability to deescalate challenging behaviour and build a rapport with children is essential.

The school will consider candidates from a range of backgrounds, such as care and youth workers, arts and drama specialists and graduates with an interest in teaching or working in educational psychology. As part of the Protocol Education team you will also be given access to training and accredited teaching and learning qualifications.

The school is particularly interested in applications from anyone considering a career in teaching. This could be a fantastic opportunity for anyone hoping to build experience in a school before applying for a PGCE/SCITT/ITT.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role as well as the Right to Work in the UK. Please see protocol-education.com/candidates/frequently-asked-questions for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. We also offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
