Looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant job in Leeds where you can genuinely make a difference?

If you’re the kind of person who can bring calm to a busy classroom, spot when a pupil needs support before they say a word, and celebrate the small wins like they’re big ones, you’ll fit right in here.

We’re working with a brilliant specialist SEND school in Leeds, supporting children and young people with autism and complex needs. It’s a setting full of heart, where teamwork matters and every role counts.

What makes this school special?

‍ Small class sizes, typically 6 to 9 pupils
A genuinely supportive team, proper communication and yes, tea break chats
Opportunities across primary and secondary phases
Staff who back each other, no egos, just shared purpose

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEND, including autism and other needs, in and out of the classroom

  • Working closely with the teacher to keep lessons engaging and accessible

  • Creating a calm, structured, and positive learning environment

  • Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and emotional regulation

  • Learning on the job with ongoing SEND training and CPD

We’d love to hear from you if you…

  • Stay calm and patient, even when the room isn’t

  • Are compassionate, curious, and ready to learn

  • Bring positive energy and don’t mind getting stuck in

  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service, or are happy to apply for one

What’s in it for you?

  • A consultant who actually picks up the phone and checks in

  • Free CPD, including Team Teach and SEND-focused training

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella company deductions

  • Real opportunities to grow your skills in SEND education

✨ Thrive-trained? Even better.

If not, we’ll get you there with our free Thrive training. It’s a great way to build your confidence in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and stand out in SEND roles.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
