Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant.
Protocol Education have recently started working with a newly founded SEMH school in the Sunderland area with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental health needs and autism. The school we are recruiting for is a popular SEMH School whose pupils range from 5-16 years old with a very supportive staffing team in place. The successful candidate will have a resilient, empathetic and patient personality with the desire to help children fulfil their potential. The role would involve a combination of 1:1 support and general classroom support.
As a Teaching Assistant, you have to be understanding and committed. That's because the young people in the school we are representing have social, emotional, mental health and complex learning needs that call for extra dedication. . It's not just about academic achievement; we want you to make them feel accepted and confident in their abilities.

This role is fixed term and to cover Maternity leave:
• 5 days a week, term time only
• 8:30am-4:30pm
• Based near Sunderland Town Centre
• Working 1:1 with pupils who have challenging behaviour
• Working from March 2019 until November 2019
You must have:
• At least 1 year of working with autism and challenging behaviour
• You must be confident with the SEN code of practice
• An understanding of SEMH and Mental Health
• Level 2/ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning.
• Experience of supporting pupils of a Primary or Secondary age
