About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative Food Technology Teacher to join our dynamic Design & Technology department, teaching students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring teacher who is committed to helping young people develop essential life skills, creativity, and confidence through practical and engaging lessons. The School is a high-achieving 11–16 secondary school located in the heart of South Birmingham, part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. We are proud to serve a diverse and inclusive community of around 950 pupils, who are supported by a dedicated and caring staff team.
The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that support all learners to achieve their full potential in Food Preparation and Nutrition. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to develop innovative resources, contribute to curriculum design, and maintain the high standards of teaching and learning across the department.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4, following the National Curriculum and exam board specifications.

Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that foster creativity, independence, and practical skills.

Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition, ensuring strong progress and achievement.

Maintain a safe, hygienic, and well-organised learning environment in line with health and safety standards.

Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and intervention where needed.

Contribute to departmental development, curriculum planning, and extra-curricular activities such as food clubs or competitions.

Promote a love of food, nutrition, and healthy living across the school community.
About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field.

A strong knowledge of current Food Technology curriculum and assessment requirements.

Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of all abilities.
