Visual Impairment Teacher (VI) jobs in Croydon to teach small groups of SEND pupils

Protocol Education is currently recruiting for experienced, qualified visual impairment teachers to work within a SEND setting. You will be responsible for teaching students who are visually impaired, supporting them along their learning journey. You will simply need to have a good understanding of the curriculum and be able to implement focus as well as having compassion and patience to be able to adapt to cater for a variety of learning needs. The pupils have a mixture of learning needs, for example; Nonverbal, physical disabilities, speech and language difficulties and/or autism (Low to Mild)


There are support specialists assigned to each pupil to encourage continuous development and academic progression.

It would be an advantage if you are you sufficient in Braille


You will be required to plan and deliver lessons as well as keeping personal progression and development plans for each of the students to make sure all their personal needs are met. The successful candidate will be resilient, patient and have a careering nature as well as being able to overcome the daily challenges that arise while working in the SEN provisions of Education.

Ideally, you will:

• Have attained QTS
• Be able to commit to a full-time role (5 days per week)
• Have an adult DBS, or be willing to acquire one through Protocol
• Have previous experience working with children with different educational
needs
• Confidence differentiating lessons for pupils with a range of different academic
abilities
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Familiarity with instructional approaches required to facilitate complete access
to the curriculum for pupils with SEND
