Job description

An 'Outstanding' Pupil Referral Unit in Croydon requires a proactive and passionate teacher to start in September 2018.

Working within an experienced and strong team, you will teach pupils who have been permanently excluded from a mainstream school setting. This is your chance to enhance their education and address their needs in a well resourced and supportive environment.

The Unit is looking for someone with knowledge and/or existing experience of working with children with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. You much be a qualified teacher, with a willingness to teach in a creative and dynamic way to engage pupils as well as being confident with classroom management.

PRU Teacher/ Description-

A Pupil Referral Unit based in Croydon area is looking for a dedicated and calm teacher to join their team. The ideal candidate needs to have a strong character and experience of working with challenging pupils. The unit itself caters for pupils from 11-16 years who have been excluded from mainstream education.

These students have often been through very tough and difficult experiences and this can often reflect in their class emotion. Therefore the ideal candidate must have a resilient attitude, but must also be passionate about making a difference and committed to really wanting to make a change.

The children will benefit from a practitioner who has a calm and laid back attitude but who is also not scared to lay down boundaries to attain a mutual respect and understanding.

Please be aware that you must meet the following requirements prior to applying to this position;

-Eligibility to work in the UK.

-You must have at minimum of 6 months working in a similar environment with challenging children.

-Your CV must be thorough and cover the last 10 years of your employment history, any employment breaks must be explained.

-You will need to supply two years of references of which AT LEAST one must be from a school/child care setting.

This position will be subject to an Enhanced CRB disclosure and overseas police checks.
