You will be working one to one with a child in KS1 who has Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), a condition which is part of the autism spectrum, and is characterised by an overwhelming need to avoid or resist demands. We are looking for people who have a real passion for working with children and who come equipped with strategies to positively manage challenging behaviour. Any experience with this particular condition would be an advantage or at least an understanding of working with children or young adults with similar challenges.
The school has a profound understanding of the importance of specialist support, and its practical implications for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their welfare. Benefiting from a warm and friendly Head Teacher, and a supportive team of Teachers and support staff, you will be provided with a nurturing environment to work in.
Therefore if you are looking to utilise your skills and experience as part of a team where they will be valued then this is a wonderful opportunity to make the next step in your career!
You will need to be available to interview ASAP and Ideally have a DBS on the online update service as this position is available for an immediate start for the right person.
