Subject Leader Design and Technology - September 2022

This is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted 2022) with great students and ambitious, talented staff, who aim to develop students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible. They want each one of them to aspire to be the best they can be without any limitations and it’s important to us that the teachers feel the same.

Do you want to work in a school that:

  • Places great importance on Design Technology and, as such, is seeing the subject grow in popularity.
  • Is friendly and community centred, where staff genuinely feel part of a team
  • Places staff well-being at the heart of everything we do.
  • Has excellent student behaviour so teachers can teach and students can learn
  • Prioritises high quality bespoke CPDL as well as opportunities for collaboration and support across a successful and highly respected multi academy trust. Is well resourced and where each teacher has their own classroom complete with Clevertouch interactive screen as well as a Chromebook.

We want you to apply if you are hungry to grow and learn yourself, have a keen interest in becoming the best teacher you can be, building effective relationships and transferring to students the same love for your subject that you yourself will have.

The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated and enthusiastic team which is well resourced. Due to the popularity of DT,  you will need to be able to teach Food and Resistant Materials at Key Stage 4.

All teachers have the opportunity to develop their own teaching and leadership qualities, through our own bespoke CPDL programme, following a relevant master’s course, NPQs, or off-site training of their own choosing through our bespoke professional learning programme. You will also have the opportunity to engage with good practice across Oxfordshire as we play a significant role within the Trust and engage with teaching colleagues outside the schools four walls. Through this partnership, they have a strong focus on educational research to inform their practice, and link closely with other schools.

It’s an exciting time to join them as they embark upon a new school vision, in which you will play a key role.

Our school is part of a larger trust; their collective vision is to be a Trust where pupils and staff thrive in schools which demonstrate:

  • all-round education, academic success, lifelong learning and strength of character
  • sustainable continuous improvement; no school standing still
  • all schools being good and outstanding, or improving rapidly
  • collaboration that is raising standards, and reducing workload
  • where pupils, staff, parents and communities value all we do to support the best possible outcomes and experiences for our children and young people

What benefits does the Trust offer to its employees?

  • Annual pay increase for support staff (in line with grade boundaries) and for Teachers (subject to government framework and successful performance review)
  • A Defined Benefit Pension Scheme with favourable terms for all employees
  • Moving from the public sector? Those without a break in service can be reassured that RLT will recognise their continuous service.
  • Employee centred and family friendly policies and practises that support you in and beyond your workplace.
  • Offering flexible working wherever we can, in order to support the work life balance of our employees.
  • Enhanced sick pay, maternity leave, paternity leave and parental leave.
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Funded eye tests and glasses for DSE users (subject to T/Cs)
