Are you ready to take the next step in your career and lead a thriving Biology department? We’re seeking an ambitious and inspiring Subject Lead of Biology to join a high-performing secondary school and sixth form in Birmingham.

Biology is a hugely popular subject in the school, with strong GCSE outcomes and excellent uptake at A-Level. The successful candidate will lead on curriculum development, support colleagues, and inspire students to achieve their very best.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the Biology curriculum across KS3–KS5, including GCSE and A-Level

  • Supporting, mentoring, and developing staff within the science faculty

  • Teaching Biology to a high standard, inspiring students of all abilities

  • Monitoring progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment

  • Contributing to whole-school leadership initiatives and enrichment activities


What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) with a degree in Biology or related discipline

  • Experience teaching Biology up to A-Level

  • A proven record of excellent classroom practice and student outcomes

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills

  • Commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
