Student Support Worker

An exciting opportunity for Student Support Worker has arised at a Secondary School in North Somerset. The role will be to work with a Year 7 child (Aged 11) with Autism on a 1:1 basis.

The school are keen to hear from motivated individuals with strong communication skills to support the learning of its students who have a range of additional needs. Experience in an education setting is desirable, however those with transferable skills from alternative sectors such as Care, Youth or Social Work, as well as Psychology/ Sociology graduates are encouraged to apply. 

Start: 1st September. Full time only 8.30am-3.00pm.

The role involves:  

  • Working with a child that requires additional support in the classroom
  • Creating a safe and encouraging learning environment where students can make the most of their education
  • Supporting with the educational, behavioural and social development of the students
  • Communicating with both students and teaching staff 
  • Providing wellbeing support 
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCo and phase leaders 
  • Developing strategies and techniques to support students
