Several specialist schools across East London are seeking to recruit Speech and Language Therapists who have experience of working with children and young adults with complex learning disabilities.

Purpose of the Job
This dynamic team of therapists work closely with the Education teams. Being a part of the team, you will be required to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to all students and their families.

This role will not only give you immense satisfaction as you make positive differences but also help you build upon your skills. You will benefit of working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to meet students' communication and eating and drinking needs. You will also be able to use a range of alternative and augmentative communication systems.

Positions are full-time (Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm) offering £100-£150 per day (depending on experience). These are for an immediate start and available in multiple specialist schools across all of East London

Main duties and responsibilities

You will play a key role in the provision students receive. Duties include:
• To work independently and autonomously as part of the Speech and Language Therapy team delivering a high-quality service to students with highly specialist needs.
• To be responsible for undertaking SaLT assessments of new and existing students, devising, implementing, evaluating and reviewing treatment plans/programmes. To provide subsequent reports as required.
• To devise and deliver specialist programmes to enable students to access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
• To provide specialist assessment in the recommendation of appropriate communication systems. To liaise with other agencies in the trial and/or provision of Voice Output Communication Aids (VOCAs) for individual students, as appropriate.
• To select vocabulary, program and manage the maintenance of VOCAs used by individual students and to support and develop students' functional use of communication systems within the College environment.
• To facilitate and recommend the use of communication systems with students (e.g. signing, symbol books, VOCAs) in individual or class sessions with the students.
• To plan, lead and supervise communication sessions for groups or individual students.

To apply for this rewarding opportunity, you must have:
• A HCPC registration
• A member of the RCSLT
• Experience of working with people with complex needs including autism
• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary environment to meet communication and eating and drinking needs
