Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

Support, inspire and empower pupils within a specialist SEND setting.

Protocol Education is currently working with a specialist SEND school in Gateshead that is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

The school provides a supportive environment for pupils with Autism and additional learning needs. You will work as part of a dedicated team to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to access education and thrive.

Your Role

You will play an important part in pupils' daily learning and development by:

• Providing tailored 1:1 support
• Supporting small-group activities
• Helping pupils access the curriculum
• Developing communication and social skills
• Encouraging independence
• Supporting emotional regulation
• Reinforcing positive behaviour
• Using individualised support strategies
• Supporting pupils during lessons and activities
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff

About You

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and understand the importance of patience, consistency and positive reinforcement.

Experience in a SEND school is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
