Job description
Special Teaching Assistant Autism

Are you looking for a fresh new challenging position in a special needs school?

A specialist school for autistic children on the borders of Hammersmith and Ealing is looking for support workers with an aptitude to working with challenging behaviours and severely autistic children between the ages of 15 and 19.

The school has customised a creative and engaging curriculum for all students enabling everyone to excel. During the first half of the day students will partake in creative, active and engaging classes. In the second half of the day students will have literacy/numeracy and life skills lessons.

The ideal candidates for this position will have:
•A good sense of humour
•The ability to create and maintain relationships
•Strong communication skills
•A creative personality
•A willingness to learn
•Good understanding of special education needs and in particular autism
•Experience in managing challenging behaviour

If you can commit to this position you will be given the opportunity to access the CPD programme at the school giving you valuable experience and recognised qualifications.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00
