PRU Teaching Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant in a Pupil Referral Unit based in South Yorkshire. The position will involve working with complex and vulnerable pupils facing behavioural, emotional and social difficulties on a one to one basis and in small groups as well as supporting the teacher with whole class sessions.
The centre which is located just outside of the city centre provides support for young people who have been referred from a mainstream setting .The centre aims to reintegrate pupils back into school and where they are not able to return, Year 11 students are encouraged to progress onto further education or employment.
Working within the centre you will take a hands on approach offering the young people the opportunity to achieve, raise their self esteem and social skills and see the value in learning. You will drive the centre to success by enforcing the positive policies, the reward system and develop the young people to manage their own behaviours leading on to a successful life out of the centre
Working in small class sizes you the successful candidate will support pupils on a personalised curriculum and where the candidate excels there is opportunity for extended assignments and permanent job opportunities.
Due to the nature of this role it is it is essential the candidate has excellent behaviour management and Team Teach (or similar) and have the following requirements;
Understanding issues surrounding each individual and supporting their needs to reach positive outcomes.
Use Team Teach when and where needed
Monitor and manage behaviour
Assist the teacher in class to prepare for the lesson.
Support small groups and on a one to one basis
Adhering to school policies
References to cover 2 years of previous employment
