A primary school which is rated outstanding by Ofsted which provides support for children with severe learning difficulties and autism which is based in the borough of Southwark are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join their team of teaching assistants to start work after the Easter break. You will be working Monday to Friday - 08:15 to 16:00 during term time.

This school takes pride in providing outstanding education and opportunities whilst also creating a community for the pupils, parents and carers through the strong links that it has developed through mainstream schools, nurseries and the local community.

To be suitable for this role you will be a caring and patient individual and have a passion to provide education to children with special needs.

In this role, you will be supporting children to overcome their daily challenges by assisting them with the curriculum either in small groups or a 1:1 basis. You will also have had experience dealing with challenging behaviour and provide a level of personal care to students either through professional experience or personal

The role will involve you working on both a 1:1 and small group basis in a classroom setting. Where you will be supporting the children to overcome their daily challenges, through assisting them with the teaching curriculum. This role also requires a level of personal care when it is required.

The Specific duties of this role:

·Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
·Providing personal care when needed
·Able to come up with creative approaches to keep students engaged with the learning process.
·Available immediately and able to commit for at least 6 months.
·Able to prepare materials for lessons as well as adapt resources to suit the lesson.
·Comfortable assessing a pupil's progress and supporting the class teacher.
·Able to provide a reference from the last two years working with children or vulnerable adults in either a professional or volunteer capacity.

An enhanced DBS is required by law to work with children, if you do not have one on the update service, you must be prepared to apply for one through Protocol Education at the cost of £40.
