Job description
Protocol Education are working on behalf of a fantastic academy in East Ham who are looking for a special needs teaching assistant to start in the new academic year.

You will be working with a year 2 class and will do a mixture of group support and 1:1 support with a child that has autism. The rest of the class will include some challenging behaviour and you will be required to help out when called upon.

The ideal candidate will:
• Understands the different communication methods of pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex needs (Makaton, PECS, AAC, etc)
• Understands that behaviour can be a form of communication for pupils and embraces a positive behaviour management philosophy
• Is able to lead high quality lessons through planning which is provided;
• Is able to lead teaching assistants within the class to promote optimal learning and progress for the pupils;
• Is able to liaise effectively with teachers, teaching assistants and other staff about the learning and progress of pupils;
• A team player who will promote harmonious professional working
• Has a passion for their job and special educational needs
• Is flexible, well organised, proactive, and receptive to our mentoring-coaching ethos
• Lives locally to Newham
• Has a full DBS check on the update service
