Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant - Autism

We are seeking to appoint a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for a Good' school in WF4 to work on a 1-1 basis with a child in Year 3 who has Autism. This is a fixed term role, which will commence in September 2021.

The Role:
The successful applicant will need to be professional, supportive and confidential and will need to be fully committed to working with school staff including the SENDCO, other professionals and also the family. You will also need to be confident when it comes to behaviour management, be able to de-escalate situations but also promote a caring and nurturing side too.

In a general day you will be expected:
- To aid the child to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his own.
- Motivate and encourage the child by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks.
- Using praise, commentary, and assistance to encourage the child to concentrate and stay focussed on tasks.
- Follow an Education, Health and Care Plan

The successful applicant will:
- Have a good understanding of, and experience of working with children with SEND (Inc. ADHD and Autism)
- Be an excellent practitioner, enthusing and inspiring children.
- Be able to support the class teacher effectively ensuring a positive impact on pupil progress and productivity.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with parents.
- Be committed to undertaking professional development to support their role.
