A primary school situated in Peckham, in the London Borough of Southwark which caters for pupils with autistic spectrum disorders and social communication difficulties. Is currently looking for a learning support assistant to join their team. You would be working Monday - Friday 08:15 to 16:00.

The school enables all its pupils to gain the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to progress to education.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a patient and caring individual who has a passion for providing the life opportunities for young adults with special needs.

In this role, you will be supporting young adults with autism so that they able to face and conquer everyday challenges that we take for granted and providing them with the support to understand the world around them. You will be working with them either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will need to confident in dealing with challenging behaviour.

The Specific duties of this role:

·Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
·Providing personal care when needed
·Able to come up with creative approaches to keep students engaged with the learning process.
·Available immediately and able to commit for at least 6 months.
·Able to prepare materials for lessons as well as adapt resources to suit the lesson.
·Comfortable assessing a pupil's progress and supporting the class teacher.
·Able to provide a reference from the last two years working with children or vulnerable adults in either a professional or volunteer capacity.

An enhanced DBS is required by law to work with children, if you do not have one on the update service, you must be prepared to apply for one through Protocol Education at the cost of £40.
