Protocol education are currently looking for a Mental Health Support Assistant to work in a secondary school in the borough of Southwark located close to South Bermondsey and Queens Road Stations. Providing mental health support for young adults who have a variety of mental health needs.

The Key aim of this school is to provide support to each student to feel comfortable and safe so that they can re-engage in the educational process This position would suit someone who enjoys working with challenging/disaffected teenagers who believes that everyone is entitled to an education. The school takes a holistic approach to education placing an emphasis on personal and social development through their therapeutic methods of engaging with the students.

To be suitable for this role:

• You will need to be able to build strong positive working relationships with pupils.
• Good behaviour management.
• Experience working with challenging children who have SEMH needs.
• To be able to assist with the development and implementation of Mental Health Plans.

Experience required for this role:

• Experience of working with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and/or challenging behaviour.
• An ability to understand the principles of learning process and barriers to learning.
• Working with children for at least 6 months in the last 2 years in Mental Health role.
