A primary school located in Lewisham which caters for pupils with SEHM and are currently looking for a learning support assistant to join their team. After the Easter break this would require you to work 08:15 - 16:00 Monday - Friday.

The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who is a positive and calming presence in the classroom and can provide the reinsurance that students require.

In this role, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil or small groups who at times can be physically challenging. It is important that you are confident with being able to provide a level of personal and being able to deal with challenging behaviour so experience in a professional or personal capacity would be advantageous.

Although you do not need any experience previously working in education to apply for this role it beneficial if you have previously working in a school or a care home.

The Specific duties of this role:

• Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
• Able to come up with creative approaches to keep students engaged with the learning process.
• Available immediately and able to commit for at least 6 months.
• Able to prepare materials for lessons as well as adapt resources to suit the lesson.
• Comfortable assessing a pupil's progress and supporting the class teacher.
• Able to provide a reference from the last two years working with children or vulnerable adults in either a professional or volunteer capacity.
