Protocol Education are working with a school in the Bradford area who are looking for teaching assistants to support their students aged 6 to 19. This school is after people who have experience working with additional needs. The students you will be supporting have a range of additional needs; from PML (profound and multiple learning disability), ASC (autism spectrum condition), and MLD (moderate learning difficulties). Many of the students who attend this school are on a EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan). The curriculum has been broken down into four pathways to meet the needs of each learner:
•Independence/Problem solving and effective communication- Students are taught how to make safe choices in the community including the digital world
•Profound Impairment, Multiple Disabilities- The activities are determined by the students which promotes participation and allows the students too express themselves. Physical skills are developed, and the students follow a sensory curriculum.
•Communication and Interactive Pathway- Students are taught how to engage in social interactions in a positive way. This pathway is designed to widen the student's interest and allows the students to communicate their needs effectively. The primary focus is to make sure the basic needs of the students are being met. A lot of the teaching is non-subject specific.
•Vocational Pathway (Post 16)- Students are given control, choice, and freedom of their lives. Student talents are celebrated but support is provided when challenges arise. Students' self-belief is enhanced so they can face challenges with confidence. Real-world problems are incorporated in the students learning.

Responsibilities:
•Build rapport with students and staff
•Behaviour management
•Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students to succeed
•Use innovative approaches to learning
•Learn about the students and their interests
