Job description
Protocol Education are currently recruiting for an opening at a mainstream Secondary School in Leeds, for a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEND to begin in September 2018 on a full time, temporary basis to work with students aged 11 18 years old.

The current length of the role is unknown at present, however will likely be a minimum of half a term. For the right candidate this role could potentially lead to a permanent placement.

The key role of the Teaching Assistant would be to support students in accessing the curriculum and developing skills to allow them to have the same life chances as everyone else. This will be directed by the SENDCO and class teachers where appropriate and support will take the form of in class TA work or 1:1/group interventions.

In order to be applicable for the role, below are the desirable qualities an individual should hold;

•Ability to relate well to young people and adults, including those who English is an additional language in a creative and clear manner
•Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to relate well to young people and adults
•Work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding roles and responsibilities.
•Ability to identify own training and development needs and participate in on-going training.
•Very good numeracy/literacy skills; A good level of English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
•Good time management and organisation skills
•Understanding of SEND & experience of working with a range of abilities
•Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these areas
•Experience of working within a learning environment
•Experience working with children of relevant age

•Develop good relationships with students and staff.
