Job description
Do you have experience working with children with ASD (autism)?

Are you looking for a position which you can make a genuine difference?

Perhaps you have experience working with SEND in the wider community?

Protocol are working exclusively with schools in Co. Durham that require experienced SEN Teaching assistants to work with children with ASD (autism) on an ongoing basis.

You will be working on a 1:1 basis with different pupils with varying levels of ASD to support and facilitate their learning whilst ensuring they remain focused. This role would be well suited to a caring, patient and enthusiastic person.

The ideal candidate will:

• A good standard of general education with a minimum of English and Maths
• Live Locally to South Durham
• GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
• Previous experience of working with students on the Autism Spectrum in an educational setting.
• Knowledge and experience of the TEACCH Principles and how these can be implemented in educational settings.
• Ability and desire to work as part of a team of Teachers and Specialist
• Teaching Assistants supporting ASC Students.
• ICT literate with good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to make necessary modifications so that ASC Students can access the curriculum and the wider school environment.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to travel.
• A desire to work with children and young people whatever their gender, race, religion or special educational need.
• An understanding of and commitment to equality principles and practices.
• A willingness to undertake training in connection with this post.
