We are recruiting a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with ASD in a Gateshead primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity within SEND support jobs in Gateshead.

About the role:

You’ll support pupils both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them navigate the school day and access learning in a way that works for them.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Supporting pupils with structured routines and visual timetables
  • Helping manage sensory needs and transitions
  • Encouraging communication and social interaction
  • Working closely with teaching staff and SENCO
  • Creating a calm and supportive environment

What we’re looking for:

  • A patient, consistent, and understanding approach
  • Interest in autism and SEND support
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable

Working hours:

  • Full-time
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
