A rewarding opportunity has become available for caring, dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants (LSAs) to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in welcoming schools across Shrewsbury.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. You'll provide vital classroom support, encourage independence and confidence, and help create a positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and work closely with teachers and SENCOs to achieve the best outcomes.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, nurseries, care, youth work or support settings.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND or additional learning needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications are welcomed but not essential.

Contract: Full-Time, Part-Time, Long-Term. Temporary to Permanent Opportunities Available

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
