Job description
Special Education Teacher

A special needs school based in the heart of Redbridge is looking to appoint an experienced and SEND teacher.

Key Stage 2 PMLD class (Y4-Y6) with 6 students and x3 support staff. Pupils are all non-ambulant, non-verbal and have many medical needs (all functioning at the lowest P Levels) but we would really like to find a teacher with lots of energy and dynamism for this group

Any training in manual handling and communication strategies, such as intensive interaction, objects of reference, touch cues, etc. is highly desirable as well as being physically resilient there are lots of physio and personal care programmes that the pupils need managing day-to-day. More specifically, the children that attend the school have severe learning difficulties; ranging from cerebral palsy, autism, downs syndrome and other similar physical and intellectual impairments which adversely affect the Childs learning process. Ideally, send teachers with SEN experience. Failing that, send teachers that are experienced in the mainstream environment but a willing to apply themselves to special education needs.

The school is closely situated to a main line train station and surrounded rural and residential areas. The facilities at the school will ensure that you are given the best platform to deliver and thrive. This coupled with the well-established SMT will make sure you have the smoothest of handovers for the start of the new term.

To apply for this position you must be a qualified teacher.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00
